How An Orthopedic Company Works With The Orthopedic System
Orthopedics is a field that deals with the prevention and treatment of conditions, that affect the moving parts of the body. Genetic conditions, injuries, diseases and infections that occur anywhere in the skeleton, muscles, joints or soft tissue surrounding them is covered under orthopedics.
Because most injuries that occur are within this part of our anatomy, orthopedics is involved in diagnosing, evaluating and treating those injuries. Orthopedic companies are an important part of the medical community.
There are orthopedic clinics where a patient can receive treatment for many different types of conditions. Within the clinic or orthopedic center there are doctors with various specialties. Some of these might include sports orthopedics, hip replacement, spinal disorders, knee, foot and ankle, hand and wrist, shoulder, and many others.
There are also orthopedic hospitals that provide orthopedic service for those who need surgery. This type of hospital specializes in the musculoskeletal area, so the equipment and staff are very well chosen and trained to care for all types of injuries and conditions in this field.
Some orthopedic hospitals have an on-site orthopedic rehabilitation center. This means that patients can see doctors, have surgery and recovery, and also do their rehab all at one location. Having all the specialized professionals and equipment in one place means that the care is sure to be the best it can.
An orthopedic company might produce orthopedic appliances, prosthetics and implants. Orthopedic appliances are also called orthotics. Some examples are braces, splints, and collars. These are manufactured by orthopedic companies.
Orthopedic companies also make prosthetic devices such as arms and legs. These need to be custom designed, as do some other orthotics, and the fit is critical, so orthopedic companies must be very specialized and experienced in what they do.
Pedorthics are also produced by an orthopedic company. These are any devices that help with foot problems. These include special shoes, shoe inserts, and lifts.
Orthopedic systems combine all of these types of orthopedic services to make the system flow. The orthopedic clinic provides doctors who assess the problems and look for solutions. They might refer patients to orthopedic surgeons in an orthopedic hospital. After the surgery, the patient may be fitted with a prosthetic or brace, and go through physical therapy.
Patients who don't need surgery might also use physical therapy at a rehabilitation facility. They also might wear splints or braces provided by the orthopedic company.
All of the orthopedic services work together to provide the best quality care for their patients. With the whole network of orthopedic doctors, surgeons, technologists and other workers, every aspect of patient care is covered. This makes the patient's life a little easier at a time when they might be experiencing a lot of pain and fear.
